NEOTYPE Salmo carpio
Object remarks: MS Kottelat (not yet received). Salmo carpio Linnaeus, 1758, based on Artedi, itself based on earlier literature accounts from Lake Garda (Italy) and Wales and the name has since -usually but not exclusively- been used for the Italian fish. Neotype designated to definitively link the name to the Italian population.
