Locality: probabaly bought at Saint Eustatius from a ship from Suriname since Dutch ships were most probable to anchor at Dutch harbours at the time

Object remarks: Two different electric eels mentioned in Quensel's (1800) 'Donationsbok': Hansson, 1787 and Fahlberg, 1799; which both might fit this specimen; Fahlbergs specimen however 'skinnet endast...incomplet' = NRM 8225! /EIÅ, 1999. Added in Hornstedt's catalogue with pencil (probably by Quensel) as "torckad Gymnotus electricus". Cf. also remarks at NRM 8225.
Locality remarks: All data from Quensel's 'donationsbok: 'År 1787 ... Hansson Åtskillige i Spir. Vini förvarade Djur, Fiskar och Insecter t.ex. någre Bradypi - Electriske Ålen - Scolopendre etc. Förmodeligen var alt ifrån Westind: emedan Gifvaren hade varit på St Eustache' /EIÅ, 1999.
