Object remarks: Name updated from Caranx gallus following Eschmeyer - obviously keyed by Andersson with Günther's Catalogue of Fishes as it is labeled "Caranx gallus Gutr.". Previously in same jar as NRM 4367 labeled "Caranx gallus L". Zeus ciliaris was described by Bloch 1787. Zeus gallus Linnaeus 1758 is an "unused senior synonym" according to Eschmeyer, but apparently used by Günther./EIÅ, 2008.
Locality remarks: Period of collecting assumed, but can be as early as 1847, although it is not likely./EIÅ, 2005.
