SYNTYPE Labrus paroticus Linnaeus, 1758
Object remarks: Syntypes of Labrus paroticus Linnaeus (1758:284), at least in part; labels: Ulriksdal, Dalman, Smitt, Bergström (40); possibly also including type(s) for Labrus julis Linnaeus (1758:284). Curatorial records obscure for both epithets, cf Fernholm & Wheeler (1983:261)./Kullander 2002. The faded small specimen assumed to originate from the Ulriksdal Collection (= a possible syntype) - the remaining four possibly from Hedenborg about 1825-1827. Assumption based on contemporary accession notes and catalogues. We have, however, so far, no confirmation that the material from Hedenborg contained several specimens of this species./ E Åhlander, 2002.
Locality remarks: Specimen(s) with printed Ulriksdal-label from 1765 or before - 'Drottningholm-label', and not associated with known collector, geographic origin, etc.; cf. Fernholm & Wheeler (1983:203-204). Moved from Ulriksdal to Drottningholm in 1773 and to the Academy (KVA, later NRM) 16-20 Jun 1801. Collection examined by Linnaeus 4 times.
