SYNTYPE Scomber trachurus Linnaeus, C
Object remarks: Syntypes (?) for Scomber trachurus Linnaeus; labels: Ulriksdal, Dalman, and unidentified ink-label. Type status discussed by Fernholm & Wheeler (1983). See also NRM 114./SIL, 1994 Contrary to Fernholm & Wheeler's discussion (p 242-243) I think that this lot is a mix of specimen(s) from Hasselqvist (but not the specimen described by him) and earlier specimen(s) included in Mus Ad Frid I. The smallest one might well be overseen by Swartz (not unusual). All three should be regarded as possible syntypes (beside UUZM 104), but more research is needed. /EIÅ, 2017
Locality remarks: Specimen(s) with printed Ulriksdal-label from 1765 or before - 'Drottningholm-label', and not associated with known collector, geographic origin, etc.; cf. Fernholm & Wheeler (1983:203-204). Moved from Ulriksdal to Drottningholm in 1773 and to the Academy (KVA, later NRM) 16-20 Jun 1801. Collection examined by Linnaeus 4 times.
