Object remarks: Oldest labels from Quensel: L. Javensis n.sp. v. Catalog Lang (=?) ded. Hornstedt. and Dalman: Scincus ? javanicus Dn. Lacerta javanica Hornstedt.. Included in Quensel's Catalogue 1802 as Lacerta ... 35 / Javensis, corpore aequali pingui, sensim pone abdomen attenuato, cauda mediocri, tereti, subfuciformi; pedibus omnibus pentadactylis unguiculatis: digitis subaequalibus. An. L. Javanica ? Hornst.varietas L. amboinensis teste Gmelini ??. Quensel probably mixed NRM 2053 + 2052 with NRM 6845 + 1049. Lacerta javensis (javanica) is a nomen nudum - cf. Hornstedt 1775 and Gmelin Syst Nat 13. Origin obscure; unclear if included in Hornstedt's catalogue 1788. Major part of Hornstedt's collection discarded by Sparrman /EIÅ, 2012.
Locality remarks: Assumed to be collected by Hornstedt in Java, but probably from the de Geer collection and received through the Dutch East India Company, possibly from Ambon /EIÅ, 2012
