Object remarks: var. aubryioides. In his introduction, Andersson (1907) stated that he received a total of 135 amphibian specimens from E. Lampe, curator at the Museum Wiesbaden, all of which were collected in 1906/1907 by O. Rau and C. Feldmann at Bibundi, Cameroon. On the following pages, the author described a new variety of Hylambates rufus Reichenow, 1874 (Andersson, 1907:241), which he named Hylambates rufus var. aubryioides (at that time, the genus Hylambates Dumeril, 1853 was used by taxonomists to accommodate a variety of species, now all being allocated among different genera in the families Hyperoliidae and Arthroleptidae; Hylambates remains a junior synonym of Kassina.
