Object remarks: Mounted on wooden block. Prev. # also: 15; 126. Assumed to be identical to "7. Testudo scabra? Lin p. 1040. Distincta vero a T. scabra Schoepfer videtur pag. 12. tab 3. f. 1. quamin verba Retzii jurans, scabran appellet: additq illam pane vesci. Nostram ex Ind. or. Adsom, diu in aqua dulci vixirsi, carnesy edit, affirmavid donator. Maculae, subtus, fuscae, in vivo rubra erant. Praterea cauda longior & color aluis in nostro ex. guam in fig. cit. - Ind. or. - - - Gröndal." [spelling to be checked]. Claimed to originate from Cuba on early 19th century label.
Locality remarks: Date of collecting antedates 1801. Specimens from the collections of C F Gröndal were donated to the Academy in 1799 and 1800 - no terrapins nor donations in 1801 mentioned in Quensel's 'Donationsbok'. Old label states "Cuba".
