Locality: No data. From King Adolf Fredrik's collection. Most probably examined by C. Linnaeus. Transfer to NRM in 1801.

SYNTYPE Coluber Aesculapii Linnaeus, 1758
Object remarks: Specimen illustrated in Linnaeus 1754. NRM 85 TL 69,5 cm, SVL 61,5 cm. Length in LGA 1899 390mm, obviously wrong. Lot NRM 84 split. /20080428 BK. Measured with a thread 650 mm TL. Fit quite well to figure in Linnaeus 1754. NRM 84 and 85 previously in one jar, split in 2008. Labels (shared) from Drottningholm "Coluber Aesculapii" and Dalman "Coluber Aesculapii Lin. C. agilis Var. Merr." Listed by L.G. Andersson (1899) p. 15-16. Type status of the UUZM C. aesculapii specimen uncertain. Type serie includes also specimens used in Seba and Gronovius. /EIÅ, 1996 & 2009
Locality remarks: Dates (material descr. by Linnaeus) predates 1754. Originally at Ulriksdals Castle. Transferred from Drottningholm Castle to KVA [=later NRM] in 1801.
