SYNTYPE Coluber Aesculapii Linnaeus, 1758

Banding does not fit at all to figure in Linnaeus 1754. NRM 84 and 85 previously in one jar, split in 2008. Labels (shared) from Drottningholm "Coluber Aesculapii" and Dalman "Coluber Aesculapii Lin. C. agilis Var. Merr." Listed by L.G. Andersson (1899) p. 15-16. Type status of the UUZM C. aesculapii specimen uncertain. Type serie includes also specimens used in Seba and Gronovius. Since labeling at Drottningholm took place after Linnaeus time this specimen may as well be a syntype of Coulber agilis. /EIÅ, 1996 & 2009.
