Order: Squamata

Species: Gekko gecko
Cat No: NRM 6850. N=4
Determiner: Dalman, JW 1824 Length: Preparation: Liquid
Continent/Ocean: Unknown Country: UNKNOWN COUNTRY State/Province:
District: Municipality:
River Drainage: Lake Basin: Ocean:
Locality: Probably from King Adolf Fredrik's collection at Ulricsdal Castle; examined by C. Linnaeus; transferred to KVA in 1801, original label missing
Field Number: KVA-LIN? Leg: Unknown Date: 1720-1754
Lacerta gecko Linnaeus, 1758
Object remarks: Origin of these specimens uncertain. Hornstedt (1788) lists the species and Quensel has marked with pencil the precence of one specimen. Quensel (1802) notes 4 specimens with reference to Gmelin p. 1068, Mus. Ad. Fr. p. 46 ipsiss. (which use to indicate type status!) and from la Cepede I: 413 t. 29, but has omitted the origin M. Drhm as on other material from the Royal Collection at Drottningholm, but this might be a lapsus. Swartz (1809) notes only three specimens in his catalogue but states M.Dhlm.! In Dalman's catalogue (1824) five specimens seems to be mixed. At least one of these specimens could be a syntype of Lacerta gecko Linnaeus, but cf. also Andersson, 1900: 13-14. De Geer had at least one specimen (marked in Syst Nat X but not in Syst Nat XII) / EIÅ, 2012 and 2016
