Object remarks: This situation is a mess. As best as I can tell, Barbour and Loveridge were in error as to their designation of MCZ-A-1453 as syntypes. There is only one specimen for that particular number. MCZ-A-1483 originally was entered as having 39 specimens in the catalog and later entered in the systematic cards as having 17 specimens. Looking at the original reference of the 'description' by Garman indicates the possibility that only one type actually exists, that is , MCZ-A-792, which was in fact the specimen collected by the discover he mentions, Count Pourtales. I believe everyone since has just perpetuated this error./I would just entered it as ? syntype, and let any one who does future revisionary work to sort it out./What do you think??/José.
