Field Number: KVA-LIN Leg: Date: 1720-1756
SYNTYPE Rana pipa Linnaeus, 1758
Object remarks: Labels from Drottningholm, Quensel, Smitt, and Andersson. Likely syntype of Rana pipa. Possibly identical to specimen illustrated in Seba (cf vol I pl. 77, fig. 3.). It is not clear from Linnaeus, 1754, page XXII, if the juveniles on the back of the female refers to the king's specimen(s) or to Seba. No Pipa specimen included in Museum Adolpho-Fridericianum. If from Dahlberg, type status uncertain. Rolander's specimens (if Pipa included) probably in the de Geer's collection or efter exchange in collection of Sparrman. /EIÅ, 2011 & 2015.
Locality remarks: Collection built up from about 1743. Including material collected by Löfling, Hasselqvist, Brander etc. A minor part from the Seba Collection. Material described and published by Linnaeus in Museum Adolphi Fiderici in 1754 and 1764. Originally at Ulriksdals Castle. Transferred from Drottningholm Castle to KVA in 1801/EIÅ, 2015 And to NRM in 1841/1848 /EIÅ, 2023
