SYNTYPE Lacerta nilotica Linnaeus, 1766
Object remarks: Cf. Andersson, 1900: 5-6. Lacerta monitor is however included also in Hornstedt's catalogue (1788), with someone (Quensel?) added later: 3 ex. and in Quensel's catalogue of duplicates 30 Aug 1801 is noted Lacerta Monitor - 8.(!) which all makes that the type status of this specimen needs more investigation (cf eg NRM 1423 and 1433). Hasselquist's (single?) specimen should be 3 feet, 2 inches (Hasselquist, 1757: 313) /EIÅ, 2012
Locality remarks: Dates (material descr. by Linnaeus) predates 1754. Originally at Ulriksdals Castle. Transferred from Drottningholm Castle to KVA [=later NRM] in 1801.
