Object remarks: Oldest label from LG Andersson, who states it is a female. Original labels lost. Quensel's catalogue: Lacerta ... 14. / amboinensis l.c. 1064. Mas & foem. in Museo servantur & aliud exemplum ex ipss Museo Schlosseri nobis allatum ess fertur, forsitan una cum collectio nibus DeGeerianis. Differennt bina illa exempla, sexu forte distinct, eô, quod alteri, pinnae caudali loco, canina est elevata. L. Javanicam Hornstedtii vix huc pertinet uti opinatur Gmel. l.c. . My rough translation: 14. Lacerta amboinensis l.c. 1064. (=loc. cit. Gmelin Systema nuturae 13 ed. p. 1064) the male and female preserved in the Museum and we can report here an example of another type specimen (actually: the very same specimen) from Museum Schlosser and which was said probably arrived with the collection of Charles de Geer. The difference between these two kinds, it is perhaps due to sex, is the high fin/wing on the caudal with prolonged rays. Lacerta javanicam of Hornstedt may be a problem here according to Gmelin l.c. . Described and figured by Hornstedt in KVA Handl. 1785. Identity of this specimen based on evaluation of old catalogues available, and publications of Schlosser, Hornstedt and Gmelin. NRM 6845 + 1049 obviously mixed by Quensel with NRM 2052 + 2053 /EIÅ, 2012.
